Over 40 Shotokan karate techniques and exercises
Karate is a dynamic, explosive martial art whose arduous training teaches the student the skills necessary to master their opponent. This, however, is not the ultimate goal: to train only for this is to miss the greater struggle - the mastery of self. This requires recognition and full attention to the spiritual aspect of this martial art.
MARTIAL ARTS BASICS : KARATE is the perfect training companion for both beginners and more experienced students. All the basic techniques are covered with combination and sparring sequences. This innovative card-based approach provides an ideal training aid.
Pack contains 20 four-panel fold-out cards and a 16-page booklet.
Kevin Healy has attained fifth dan JKA (Japan Karate Association). He began training in Shotokan karate in 1979, gaining his black belt, first dan, 3 years later. He was awarded his fifth dan in 1997. During this period he was a member of both the KUGB junior and senior squads. In 1989 he became EKB national kumite champion.
Kevin is fortunate to have been taught by 2 of the true masters of Shotokan karate, Andy Sherry (seventh dan) and Keinosuke Enoeda (ninth dan). Kevin had the great privilege of training regularly with those Senseis during his 10-year involvement with the national team. This experience in both traditional and competition-based karate has allowed Kevin to become a highly successful instructor in his own right.
